R.J. Love
Chairman
ROBIN LOVE joined the Board of Commissioners in 1973.
He is now retired but was previously Managing Director of Cattedown Wharves Ltd. where he was employed for some forty-four years and held several Port appointments during that period.
Prior to becoming Chairman, he served the Cattewater Harbour Commissioners as Deputy Chairman for thirteen years.
Robin is a keen golfer in his spare time. He was captain of Staddon Heights Golf Club in 1998 and is currently the club President.

J. A. Samuel
Deputy Chairman
Tony Samuel joined the Board of Commissioners in 1996.
He is a Chartered Accountant and Shipbroker and is currently Managing Director of W. D. Tamlyn & Co., an independent shipping agency in Plymouth.
He is a keen sailor with his own yacht, and is an active Rotarian.
He is Vice-Consul for The Netherlands and Consul for Finland, assisting their nationals in the South West.
He previously served on the harbour board at Fowey for 20 years. |

T. Cross
Commissioner
TIM CROSS joined the board of Commissioners in 2007.
He is the Water Sports Manager at the Mount Batten Centre and
is also a qualified RYA trainer.
Tim has 17 years working knowledge of the marine leisure industry and also participates in a variety of water and wind sports in his leisure time.

M. Gilbert
Commissioner
MIKE GILBERT re-joined the Commissioners in 2006 after a six year break.
With a Naval background and previously a QHM for Plymouth; he is currently consulting in nuclear risk and port development at Devonport Naval base
He has worked in the off shore industry and more recently was CEO of the Mount Batten Watersports Centre in Plymouth.
Mike is also the Chairman of Maritime Plymouth, a federation of local marine based industries, and is the Regional Chairman of Groundwork SW which specialises in sustainable and environmental development.

G. Hicks
Commissioner
GRAHAM HICKS Joined the Board of Commissioners in 1995.
He is currently Operations Manager for Bardon Aggregates Cornwall and Plymouth areas.
Graham comes from a quarrying background and is responsible for operating a ship loading / unloading wharf at Pomphlett, where he also has the responsibility of Port Facility Security Officer, following approved training by the Department for Transport.
He has worked in the minerals industry for 28 years and has operated quality environmental management and health and safety management systems.
He is also a member of the local area environment group (Environment Agency plus interested parties) as the coastal representative.

Cdr. Steve Layland, RN – QHM
Commissioner
CDR. STEVE LAYLAND joined the Board of Commissioners in January 2008, on his appointment as Queen’s Harbour Master, Plymouth.
Firmly committed to the local maritime scene, he is Chairman of both the Tamar Estuaries Consultative Forum, and the Port of Plymouth Marine Liaison Committee.

G. Ede
Commissioner
GEOFFREY EDE Joined the Board of Commissioners in 2007.
Geoffrey is a businessman with an extensive maritime background and was previously a commissioned officer with the Royal Australian Navy and a Master with the Australian Merchant Marine.
He was up until recently involved in the cross channel ferry business but has now settled in the South West to follow new business opportunities in the hotel industry.
Managerial roles have included Operations Director, Chief Executive and Managing Director in a number of companies involved in conventional and passenger related businesses. Responsibilities included the managing of ports, tourism related activities and retail within the shipping sector.

Cllr. Mrs J. Nelder
Commissioner
JEAN NELDER was first appointed as a member of the Cattewater Harbour Commissioners in 1995.
Councillor Jean Nelder has been a Plymouth City Councillor since 1987 and was until recently a Cabinet Member with Portfolio for Strategic Planning Policy including special responsibility for the Regeneration of the East End of the city.
Jean has held a number of positions as City Councillor including Chairman of Planning, Director of Plymouth Development Corporation from 1993 to 1998, Director (Vice Chairman) of Single Regeneration Board to which Jean was appointed in 1998.

Cllr. G. Wheeler
Commissioner
GEORGE WHEELER re-joined the Board of the Cattewater Harbour Commissioners in 2007; having served as a Commissioner previously for a combined total of 8 years.
Councillor George Wheeler has been a Plymouth City Councillor since 1989 and is a member of the planning committee. Until recently he Chaired the council's transport committee and represented the Council on TECF.
As a promotor of sea transportation of goods rather than the costly road/rail alternatives, George is a passionate supporter of the port.
He brings a wealth of experience in regional planning and transport issues to the Commission.

Capt T.W. Charlesworth
Harbour Master & Chief Exec.
CAPT. TIM CHARLESWORTH joined the board of Commissioners in November 2005.
He joined the harbour authority in 1997 as Cattewater Harbour Master and also has responsibility for the Plymouth Pilotage Service as the Commission is also the Competent Harbour Authority for the Pilotage Service.
Tim served at sea for 26 years on tankers, 11 years as Master.
He is a member of many of the various port committees and an active member of the Nautical Institute.
