Commissioners Vacancies

12 Aug 2021

Cattewater Harbour Commissioners are the navigation and conservancy authority for the Cattewater Harbour, as well as the Civil Pilot Authority for the Port of Plymouth. The Cattewater is home to deep-water commercial wharves, the south-west’s largest petroleum depot, and various marine leisure facilities.

CHC are looking to recruit motivated and forward-thinking people to continue the successful operation and development of Plymouth’s commercial and leisure maritime sector. In these changing times, the Commissioners are keen to build on present revenue streams whilst exploiting potential growth in all marine sectors including Smart Shipping, Autonomy, and embracing the City’s status as a “Freeport.”

What are we looking for?

Maritime experience is desirable but not essential; it is of more importance that the Port has a varied skill base to create an effective Board. This will broadly range from Management, Financial, Business Strategy, Governance, Environmental, Stakeholder Engagement, Leisure, Fishing and Health & Safety.

The role:

3 Year Term as a member of a non-executive Board, which involves attendance at 9 annual meetings, with the occasional need to represent the Commissioners at extra functions.

Candidates will be required to have input to Port Policy and Strategic Planning and be comfortable liaising with stakeholders ranging from MPs to Local Government to residents and Harbour users.

To apply for an Application Pack, please either telephone 01752 665934 or e-mail info@plymouthport.org.uk

Your completed application should be returned with a covering letter and CV by no later than Friday 10th September 2021.
